Blogging?

Yesterday there was an article on the Star entitled "Confession of a blog addict" or something to that effect. The author was saying that she was totally nuts over blogging. She spent countless hours blogging, stalking and posting comments till she had become ignorant of her own responsiblities. She was obsessed with the number of surfers browsing through her blog…

I dun really know why ppl would get so attached to this whole blogging thing. For me, i dun even care whether there’s anyone reading what i’m bitching here. I do this for my future reference, as a reflection to what i was and what i had become. If anyone reading this is also reading my other blog, i had also given my point of view about blogging there, and someone even commented on it.

well, suffice to say i’m blogging outta my own interest and am not trying to prove anything.

Right. It’s time for some pics. I didnt buy a digicam just to collect dust… here are some on various occasions: the haze, my mumps, my new crib, etc etc..

I’ve tried a few times but i just couldnt arrange the pics the way i want it. Stupid friendster blog… anyways, going from left to right, upwards down: That was the time i got struck down by paramyxovirus, day 3 into the disease, and already my parotid was this large… over the next day or so it ballooned, and the view of it is frightening, so i figure it wont be appropriate to upload it here…

Then there’s the evening shot of the apartment where i live. The serenity and tranquil atmosphere was quickly replaced by the blanket of dust for about a week during the time when Air Polluiton Index is all the KL people talks about.

The next pic shows my 1st home-cooked meal since moving in. Me and my wife did the cooking, tho my sis did the shopping (and conveniently bought back an unprepared fish with all the scales and internal organs…).

Then there’s the steamboat we had during my sis’s 22nd bday, back in my hometown of Timberland. My bro took the candid shot of me chilling with my cup of Tok Shh Heong… looks like a retard, i know…

Good times end quick. What used to be my spiritual motivation had now turned into a mere memory, taking up but a meagre nanometer in one of my cerebral gyri. 3 months of complete joy had just stopped so abruptly. It’s the same shit all over again…

I wish this is over, for good.

Fun, No More

Been a while since my last post. Didnt do nothing since then. The progress of furnishing my new crib is rather stagnant, mostly due to limitations in the wallet department. I had been spending the bulk of my free time exploring latest hits in the gaming industry, whilst in the morning i head to the IPR (Institut Perubatan Respiratori / Institute of Respiratory Medicine) for my selective. Such freedom is really a treat for us medical students.

Well, despite the fact that i’m now having the time of my life, doing nothing more than PC gaming and sitting in for back 2 back movie marathons, the fun soon subsided. Why? Well i was visited by a certain paramyxovirus that had incidentally infected my parotid glands, which had in turn grown double its original size.

Well, simply put, i’ve got the mumps. And here i thought with me approaching 24 years old and the MMR vaccination i’d be free from this bugger, period. Guess i just have to be this lucky…

Yep, these weeks i’ve been spending time at my new crib, doing whatever deemed necessary to make the place more ‘homey’. All the painting and washing really wore me out, but the satisfaction gained was priceless. Below are some pics of the fruit of my labour…

Canona510_010painting in progress…

Img_0234…and cleaned! Looks easy enough to complete, but it took me a handful of hours. Didn’t realise i’m a perfectionist.

Img_0249… and this is just to brag: the pool’s lovely!!!

That’s all for now. can’t believe i’m uploading pics with a 56ker… at least it’s at a decent speed, thank god.

Had not been doing much lately. Just helping out in the new house and working around my new digicam, a Canon Powershot A510. Now i can take pics and post ‘em around, if only to add some colors in my dull blog…

p/s: I still haven’t got over the Star Wars fever. Been thinking of getting Star Wars Lego to play lol.

ROTS reviewed. A 9/10!

So the Star Wars noob had watched Revenge Of The Sith. And he’s got only one word:

Orgasmic

I got the unnatural high while watching the movie. It’s kinda like, pardon the expression, getting a stiffy for the whole 130+ minutes. And boy, am i satisfied with the way they have managed to cramp every single details into the movie.

So we start off at where the animated series The Clone Wars had left us. The war is nearing its end and two very efficient jedi, Kenobi and his young apprentice Skywalker, are on their way to rescue the kidnapped chancellor Palpatine. A series of shipwrecks and awesome lightsaber fights later we see (finally) the calculative and well-planned assault from the legendary utility droid R2D2 against combat droids. Some good humour are around and while some might not sound very funny, they lightened the overall dark feel about the movie. They also suggest that our soon-to-be Darth Vader is not always emotional and solemn. Well, not always, but almost always.

General Grievious is another wonder in the movie. Skilled in combat tactics like hit-and-run, the biomechanical evil is quite a sight to behold. To stress the fact that this Separatist leader-figure is a hybrid of flesh and steel, a very common ailment was assigned onto the character. Clever. The animated movement was realistic, alongside all other droids and space fights. And the fight between him and Obi-wan Kenobi is simply marvellous, if you can forgive the fact that Obi-wan’s entry into a meeting room full of enemy is somewhat too convenient and unchallenged.

Yoda is another character to be held in memories for years. For the 1st two episodes, the jedi master’s role is just preach, preach, and preach some more. Despite a sneak peak of his ability was given at the end of Episode II, it was far from satisfying. That fight with Count Dooku was actually rather ridiculous. If there’s anything fitting enough to describe the scene, think Pokemon. However, in ROTS, Yoda rules. He is much closer to the wise…. character (i was gonna say man, but…) he used to be in Episode V. When he fights, instead of being a cuddly green gremlin who jumps around with the lightsaber, there are more tactics and tricks applied. The final battle between Yoda and Evil is breath-holding, though i think it could be much better. Give it up for Yoda, the legendary CGI (and a good one too)!

Darth Sidious, the mysterious Sith Lord, is well portrayed and the psychopathic character was well-played. But his choice of words are rather curious. I’d think that a Sith Lord like him would be wise and deep and sophisticated. Yet all he likes to say is ‘POWER!!!’ and ‘UN-LI-MITED. PAOWAAH’. Those aside, the Sith Lord is very good in manipulation and Force Lightning is always cool to look at. "Now it’s time for you to feel the full PAOWAAH of the dark side!"

The other jedi, some made famous by the animated series, some by various novels, do not stay on screen for long. I don’t want to spoil anything for those who have not seen the movie so suffice to say that i got all emotional during their appearance. But behold, that is the moment where history is made in the Star Wars timeline. That is what the clone troopers are actually for. I do hope that Aayla Secura can be on screen for a lil’ longer though lol.

The battle in Kashyyk, Chewie’s home planet, was also magnificent. That’s also when we catch the 1st glimpse of the famous hairy sidekick of Han Solo. I wonder how much he was paid to make a cameo like this?

Obi-wan Kenobi, another legend of Yoda’s proportion, is very inspiring. He’s in all episodes, though for the last two, Ep V and VI he was just a hologram lookalike made up by the Force. Ewan Mcgregor, being a superb actor, played him well enough. But like Darth Sidious, his dialogue sounded, well, phony. Action is quite packed in this one for he is, after all, a war general. Fighting scenes with Obi-wan in them are very very juicy to watch, especially you are the type that pay very close attention to details. And his movements are rather graceful, and well choreographed, as all other fights. The final fight, though seems draggy, is very appropriate considering the relationship between the two.

Anakin Skywalker, soon named Darth Vader, suits Hayden like a glove. His expressions and emotions are very convincing, and this time, instead of the romantic young jedi Anakin that seduced Senator Amidala with his charms and smile, he’s all dark and gloomy. The transition of Anakin from a jedi to a sith is meant to be subtle and smooth in the movie, but it still feels a little choppy, and a little too sudden. But the overall drama is maintained, leaving most ppl happy, except maybe for die hard fans who wanted more drama and deep emotions. When it comes to fighting, Anakin is harsh and lethal compared to Obi-wan. His movements are meant to kill, each hit comes with hatred and anger, very much complementing the character. When the final fight ends, many of us are enlightened. That is how Darth Vader came to be. The nostalgic funny helmet and the out-of-breath demeanor of the ‘robot-like person in black suit’ won applause all over the world. "Rise, Lord Vader."

And we can also witness the birth of two main characters in the next three episodes, Luke and Leia Skywalker, and their subsequent separation. The final words of Yoda to Obi-wan before the movie ends are also rather informative on how the Force-forged holograms in the 1st trilogy came to be.

All in all, this is a very conclusive flick to end the Star Wars saga. Well-written story, kick-ass choreography, state of the art CGIs and animations, good sound effects, and the loose ends all tied up. I’d say a 9/10, not because it is significantly flawed that it does not deserve a 10, but i think there’s room to fine tune and make this movie a legend.

May the Force stay in our hearts.
